The Bullies: Court Of Social Media Justices (COSMJ)

“People say sticks and stones may break your bones, but names can never hurt you, but that’s not true. Words can hurt. They hurt me. Things were said to me that I still haven’t forgotten.”~ Demi Lovato

A few days ago, while browsing through my Instagram page, I saw a female calling out her friend. She went on to call the so-called friend a prostitute with a high body count. Comments on that post caught my eyes. A lot of people were already cussing out the “prostitute,” taking sides with this female and some “familiar spirits” made comments to let readers know that these ladies were really close in reality so this call-out must be true. A couple of days later, the female that was called out came on Instagram to defend herself. She said her friend called her out because they had a misunderstanding and was shocked her friend went as far as calling her a prostitute and all manner of names. Pretty much, she denied all the allegations leveled on her by her friend. The Court Of Social Media Justices (COSMJ) dragged her and made comments about why she had to wait a few days to come defend herself, how she was guilty as charged and her delayed reaction was evidence that she was guilty. My point is this female was already bullied, condemned and found guilty before she had a fair chance to defend herself.

As you must know, the COSMJ is very brutal. These are justices that make a ruling based on one false accusation, one phrase probably taken out of context, one clap back directed at a person. The brutality is real and yes, they are bullies. In a few seconds, strangers that have no idea what kind of a person you are can ruin your life with comments and assumptions. When I see a person being dragged/bullied on social media, I’m cautious, because I know the COSMJ do not care to give a fair trial. Also sometimes, when a person drags another person on social media, fake accounts/trolls come to make comments to fuel the person dragged. I wonder if the COSMJ realize what they’re actually doing, in reality, is called cyber-bullying. How do you come to a post having heard only one side and make your verdict? Some of the comments I read are brutal. A lot of adults on social media are bullies and these are the same adults that cry wolf when their kids are bullied in school. Dragging and trolling people on social media breeds a toxic atmosphere where bullying thrives. If adults can’t control themselves on social media, how do you expect the youths and teenagers to stop the bullying trend now rampant everywhere?

A glaring example is Beyonce. Anytime a non-beyhive person makes a negative comment on her page, her personal COSMJ is unleashed. Now, these breed of COSMJ is vile and dangerous. Case in point, when Beyonce accused “Becky” with the good hair of cheating with Jay-Z, the COSMJ went after a lady they taught Beyonce was referring to (Rachael Roy). This lady was getting death threats and being called all manner of names and her reputation was dragged because Beyonce sang about Becky and Rachael made a comment on her (Rachael’s) page after the song was released. Rachael was bullied, teased, laughed at, and ridiculed.  Even though this lady came out to plead that she and her daughter were scared for their safety, the COSMJ had already rendered their decision. She was guilty as charged. Funny thing to me is it takes two people to cheat right? The person who owed Beyonce loyalty was Jay-Z, not “Becky.” Why was the guy involved (Jay-Z) not dragged and threatened? Well, the COSMJ tries cases based on bias, sentiments and one-sided stories.

If you come on social media to drag a person or comment on matters you are not personally involved in and may not have pertinent facts to determine the truthfulness/fairness of, then you have inducted yourself into the COSMJ and have officially become a social media bully. When your child or someone close to you gets bullied, you have no recourse as you have allowed the COSMJ to infiltrate your life and people around you. Judge/bully and you shall be judged/bullied!!!
