Justice!! Justice!!! Where art thou in Nigeria? Why has Justice gone silent all of a sudden? Why has justice tilted to enable criminals? The early days of June 2017, Nigerians were jubilating and celebrating because the most notorious kidnapper in the country had been caught by the police. In-fact, the police were very impressed with this arrest that almost all hours of the day, information from this notorious kidnapper was released as he confessed to the heinous crimes he committed. Chukwudidumeme Onuamadike, aged 36 popularly known as Evans the notorious kidnapper.
With all the jubilation concerning his arrest and capture, and media constantly bringing updates about this vile beast of a kidnapper, it is a wonder where he is now. For over a month now, the media has no updates about vile Evans. Not only are there no updates, the whereabouts of this vile human being is unknown. The last information released via the media over a month ago stated vile Evans was secretly transported to a high security facility in Abuja, Nigeria’s FCT. And since then, silence has reigned concerning this vile human being who tortured victims and caused many families sorrows, sleepless nights and financial death. Does Justice not deem it necessary to update its citizens and make sure criminals are brought to justice for the crimes they commit? Where is the societal out cry that Evans should be made to face the justice system in Nigeria? Are the citizens of this country so spineless that they cannot demand a public trial of this vile notorious kidnapper?
Who remembers Lawrence Anini (AKA Anini)? Decades ago, this dangerous armed robber was the most feared in Benin City, Nigeria. He terrorized and killed the residents of Benin City for years. Eventually, the then military head of state General Ibrahim Babangida declared a massive hunt for Anini’s capture. Anini was eventually caught and implicated key police officers who aided his gang. He faced the justice system in Nigeria (albeit under military rule), which seemed to be doing a good job at that time and was sentenced to death by firing squad. His death was televised live. The current civilian government needs to be ashamed of itself. I fear that Evans has been hidden as his confessions were getting too much and he was going to start listing names of powerful/influential clients who aided him. Has Evans once again slipped through the hands of justice like he did over a decade ago? Nigerians!!! Wake up. If you wake up and start making demands, maybe justice will re-balance her-self.
All the young men and women greedily pushing the #NotTooYoungToRun, shame, shame, shame!!!! All too quick to put up posters for governorship. Demand justice. How about starting your campaigns demanding Evans be made to face the justice system? How about starting a #EvansMustFaceJustice movement? Or #JusticeForKidnappedVictimsFamilies? or #EvansDeservesJusticeLikeAnini? Nigerians wake up from your slumber, justice, stand up tall and be blind but steady. Make use of the sword and scale you carry in your hands and exert justice for all who have fallen victim, who are currently victims, and who will fall victims should vile Evans be made to secretly slip out of your hands. Arise O’compatriots!!! Nigerians call obey!!!
